American Gem Society.

Members of the American Gem Society are dedicated to providing the most knowledgeable service to their customers. Upon successful completion of prerequisite gemological training and coursework offered by the Society, members are awarded titles that designate their level of knowledge and expertise.
To maintain the educational standards of the membership, the Society requires its titleholders to re-ascertain their gemological knowledge by passing an annual re-certification examination. Gemological Association of Great Britain

The Gemological Association of Great Britain can trace its origins back to 1908. The world’s first qualifying gemology course originated in London and the first gemology diploma was awarded in 1913. The first gemology Correspondence Course followed in 1921. The Association became an independent organization in 1931 and combined with the Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain in 1990 to form ‘GAGTL’. These initials were replaced by the ‘Gem-A’ logo in 2001. The Gem-A headquarters is situated close to Hatton Garden in central London and contains the Education office, Gem Tutorial Center, Membership office, Gem Testing Laboratory and Gem-A Instruments.

The International Colored Gemstone Association is a non-profit association which was founded in 1983 to represent the international gemstone industry. European Gemological Laboratory

The president of E.G.L. Mr. Guy Margel completed his gemological training in the United States in the late 1960's. In 1973 Mr. Margel opened the first European Gemological Laboratory in Antwerp. The laboratory in New York was opened in 1975 followed by Los Angeles in 1978. E.G.L. South Africa opened in August of 1980 and the laboratories in Paris and London opened in 1981 and 1982. Laboratories opened in Tel Aviv, Seoul, Istanbul in the 90's and India in 2003. The services offered by the E.G.L. laboratories are recognized throughout the world and the company is an integral part of the global diamond industry.
